Currency

The local currency is Barbadian dollar(BBD). But US dollars are accepted in almost all shops and restaurants.

Climate:

Barbados weather is generally warm and sunny all year round with an average daytime high of 30°C / 86°F. In fact, Barbados has over 3,000 hours of sunshine each year!

Northeast tradewinds blow steadily so that although it is bright and sunny, it is not unbearably hot. The nights are usually slightly cooler.

The rain typically comes in quick showers. The dry season lasts from January to June.

Language

English is the common used language in Barbados.

Health

Beware of the sun, Barbados is only 13 degrees off of the equator and you can get sun burnt very easily. It is very necessary to drink plenty of water and bring umbrella to shade yourself against the sun. Sunscreen cream is highly recommended. Bug spay is also necessary to take with you in order to prevent mosquitoes for outdoor activities.

Shopping Hours

Clothing and gift stores open until 9 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. or so (Sheraton Mall shops until 9 p.m.) on Saturdays; very few are open on Sunday. Many supermarkets island-wide are open on Saturday and Sunday.

Visa Requirements

Except from those American countries and European countries, Barbados requires an entry visa. The visa can be applies through Barbadian embassy as well as British embassy, with 2 passport size photographs, which cost BDS$ 50 for single entry and BDS$60 for multiple entry.
