I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Velas resort, and I can tell you that it was a truly memorable experience that left a lasting impression.

Accommodation:

At Grand Velas, I stayed in the exquisite Grand Class Suite, an impressive 1377 sq. ft of immaculate design and amenities. The suite came with a welcoming set of green apples and Ferrari Champagne to kickstart my stay. The wet bar, fully stocked with a Nespresso coffee maker, Mezcal, wine, and a variety of snacks and beverages, offered everything one could need for a luxurious retreat.

The view was a scenic dream come true, a magnificent oceanfront vista where I was lucky enough to see a full rainbow. The room was tranquil, with the hotel’s ingenious design allowing staff to move luggage under the hotel, ensuring peace and quiet.

The king-size bed enveloped me in comfort with its plush white goose down comforters and pillows, while the overall ambiance of the room, featuring newly renovated light wood and sleek, modern decor, radiated warmth and luxury.

Food and Drinks:

Grand Velas excelled in the culinary department, offering eight top-notch restaurants and multiple bars, including lounge bars, swim-up bars, and a coffee bar. Every dish and drink was of unparalleled quality, earning a perfect score in my books.

From the elegant French cuisine at Piaf to the delectable buffet breakfast at Azul, and the traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist at Frida, every meal was a gastronomic delight. My personal favorite was Frida, with its make-your-own guacamole, insect garnish options for the more adventurous, and mouthwatering short ribs.

For breakfast, Bistro offered an unbeatable combination of incredible service, delicious traditional chilaquiles, and breathtaking ocean views. The exquisite nine-course meal with wine pairings at Cocina de Autor was a culinary journey that tantalized all senses. Room service was also commendable, swiftly delivering a succulent medium-rare ribeye and cesar salad to my room.

Service:

From the smooth check-in and check-out process to the warm and efficient service staff, Grand Velas demonstrated exemplary service. One particularly delightful touch was the turndown service, complete with special Mexican treats. The pool concierge was also remarkably attentive, ensuring I had everything I needed during my relaxing pool time.

Facilities and Activities:

The resort offered an abundance of amenities, including two pools, two gyms, and the soothing SE Spa. It also provided a variety of daily changing activities like bike tours, salsa lessons, beach volleyball, and more. The Kids and Teens club also had daily activities, making it a suitable choice for families.

Location and Surroundings:

Located about 40 minutes from Cancun International Airport, Grand Velas is conveniently situated on the beach. Attractions like the 5th Avenue’s shopping and dining options and adventurous spots like Chinchen Itze or local cenotes are easily accessible. The resort’s beach was pristine and peaceful, complemented by the surrounding beautiful landscapes and wildlife.

Overall Experience:

Overall, Grand Velas exceeded all my expectations. From the surprising encounter with a family of spider monkeys to the luxurious accommodations and delectable dining experiences, every moment was a highlight.I highly recommend Grand Velas to anyone seeking an extraordinary luxury travel experience. The resort’s impeccable service, superb food, and excellent location set it on par, if not higher, with other luxury resorts I’ve visited in Riviera Maya.
